As you may surmise from the subject of my entry today, I got a job. Full-time, no less. Which kinda sucks. But if you compare it to the fact that I am one of those pitiful, poor college kids you read about in the papers and see on the news, and I need the money ... My mother was, needless to say, rather excited. So am I. It beats the shit out of sitting at home basically all day feeding the cats, watering the plants, washing the dishes, and reading books - it gets boring reeeeaaal quick. To me, working at a job where I get to categorize bugs is better than getting cabin fever at home.
Yeah, forgot to mention. I'm working at the entymology lab on campus with an old school friend's dad. He runs the bug museum. And he's uber-cool.
So I start work tomorrow at 8:30. Didn't think I'd be saying that anytime soon, but hey, good things happen.
Bad things too. My beloved sister-in-law found a lump in her breast. The doctor doesn't think that it's benign. The biopsy results come in on Wednesday, so we're all waiting and crossing our fingers for the best. Regardless, I'm still going to Missouri to see Wally in a few weeks. Maybe Nat will be ok. Dunno.

But I sort samples of bugs that come in from like Alabama or MS or wherever, picking out what my bosses want to keep, and I put those in vials. My bosses look for exotic species after that. Then I get to put those cool, fun bugs on little teeeeeny triangles of paper, stick that through a needle, and glue the bug on the point (the triangle of paper) in such a specific and infuriatingly difficult way.
Wash jars, run errands, etc. Boring. But it's fun. If that makes much sense at all.
That's sad. And I'm sorry. But there aren't a lot of other student workers so I get paid more. But I also have like four bosses. Which is hellahella weird.
